Our Wedding

Lucy and I met in the most old‑fashioned way imaginable: Match.com. Not an app — Match Dot Com. We were both busy people with real careers and real obligations, so we turned to technology to help us find what turned out to be… each other. It took a little while before we connected — about two or three months from my first message to Lucy’s first reply.I happened to be traveling in the UK for work when we finally started exchanging messages and set our first date. We agreed to meet the very day I flew back from London — just hours after I landed. I rushed home from the airport, showered, changed, and headed right back out to meet Lucy for the first time at Le Grand Bistro American in Kirkland.We met at 7 PM on April 17, 2016. We closed the restaurant. Last people out. I pushed for a next date, and a next‑next date, and so on. Somehow, we were always the last people out.What began as a series of intriguing conversations with a smart, hilarious, and engaging woman quickly grew into something more. By mid‑June, we were hosting our first couples’ dinner with friends. Soon after, I told Lucy I loved her — and she told me she loved me too.Since that first date, we’ve celebrated, traveled, stayed home, drank coffee, laughed, cried, triumphed, struggled, shared dessert, hit milestones, missed each other, gotten sick of each other, and been inseparable… yes, inseparable.Simply put, our lives have been better together. My life is certainly better because I have Lucy in it. And I know she feels the same — that my life is better because of her. 😉For ten years, we’ve celebrated April 17 as our “anniversary,” but this year was the last of those celebrations. We’ll be saying our “I do’s” in front of friends and family on October 17, 2026, and setting a new anniversary to look forward to.We can’t wait to share that day with you.~ Noah

We're truly excited for you all to join us here in Seattle. Below is some information about the flow of the day.

4:00 PM - Doors open to the Olympic Ballroom for guests to choose their seats. Please sit anywhere that suits you and don't worry about the side you sit on.

5:00 PM - Cocktail hour starts in the Terrace Room (weather willing we can use the outside terrace as well). There will be passed hors d'oeuvres and drinks. We hope we can join you all at some point during this time.

6:00 PM - Call to dinner. Please join us in the Olympic Ballroom. Find your tables.

7:00 PM - Cake cutting ceremony and cake service. Time for a few words from our friends.

8:00 PM - DJ Turns It Up and we hope you'll join us on the dance floor.

10:25 PM - You don't have to go home, but... you can't stay in the ballroom. Each of you please grab a small gift from us on your way home.

Get On The Floor!

Bryan and Noah met in 1993 at Bennington College. We initially bonded over a mutual love of video games, especially countless hours of Street Fighter 2. If you have ever asked about Noah’s tattoos, Bryan is the friend that Noah has told you about who became a tattoo artist in Los Angeles. In addition to running a tattoo shop, Bryan is a ceramicist and painter. One of his pots is in the entryway to the house in Issaquah.

Roger and Noah met in October 1999 when Noah started his first job in the video game industry as a tester at SEGA of America. Roger was the on-the-floor manager of "the test pit". Roger and Noah had lots to discuss when it came to music, books, baseball, and boxing. Life took them to opposite coasts, but 10 years ago Roger and his family moved to Washington and Noah & Roger picked up where they left off.

Mai-Lan and her husband Graeme met Lucy when they were installing shades in Lucy's old home, but the contractor-client relationship turned to friendship and the rest is history. Mai-Lan and Graeme are the first couple that Lucy and Noah hosted dinner for as a newly minted couple in June 2016. Since then, there have been countless shared meals and bottles of wine. Mai-Lan is an incredible cook, generous hostess, and one of sweetest most earnest people we know.

Olive is one of many in a group affectionately known as "the Foodies"; a group of Lucy's friends who get together at different houses and host dinners. Lucy took Noah to one of the "Foodie" gatherings early in their relationship. Olive is a (mostly) retired personal chef and a lovely hilarious human being. Over the last decade many of the +1's have dropped out of group, but there is still a tight knit group of ladies that Lucy is close to... and Noah and Jeffery (Olive's partner).

Graeme is Mai-Lan's husband and, as previously mentioned, the other half of the first couple that Lucy and Noah hosted for dinner. Graeme has an incredible gift for making friends and easily made Noah feel at comfortable and at home in his and Mai-Lan's home. Graeme and Noah share a love of wine and have pulled countless corks together. We asked Graeme to preside over the ceremony because we wanted to have someone stand up there with us who knows us as a couple, but also each as individuals. Graeme and Mai-Lan have been together since college, so they know a thing or two about "making it work" for the long haul.

Charlotte and Lucy are Noah's 18-year-old daughters. Known affectionately to Noah, Coco & Lulu. We wanted to involve them in some way as they a huge part of Noah's life and Lucy has watched them grow-up since they were 8. They kindly agreed to bear the heavy responsibility of each carrying a ring down the aisle for us. Charlotte is a freshman at Cal State University Monterey Bay. Lucy is a freshman at Bellevue College.

Cocktail attire requested for our wedding at The Edgewater on October 17.✦ Think elegant, polished, and celebration-ready.✦Dresses, dressy separates, suits, or jackets with dress pants are all wonderful choices.✦ Seattle in October can be cool, so please bring a coat or wrap.

Dress Code

We have 9 rooms at the Edgewater Hotel blocked at a discount rate. First come, first served. You might also consider the Four Seasons or the Seattle Marriott Waterfront as alternatives. ~NOTE: While too soon to say whether this will be a factor, our wedding date is within spitting distance of the World Series and therefore potentially during MLB playoffs. IF the Mariners are still in the mix, it could make downtown hotel rooms scarce and expensive. We encourage you to reserve rooms early.

The hotel offers elegant rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, an on-site spa and fitness center, a rooftop terrace with city and water views, and attentive concierge service to help with restaurant reservations and local transit.

Located right on the waterfront at 2100 Alaskan Way, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront offers sweeping views of Elliott Bay and easy access to downtown attractions like Pike Place Market and the waterfront promenade. The hotel features modern rooms and suites, an on-site restaurant and bar, and a fitness center; it’s a convenient choice for guests a short drive (3 min) or walk (6 min) to our wedding venue.

Where to stay

One of our favorite places, a must-visit museum in downtown Seattle showcasing global and Pacific Northwest art; great for a quiet afternoon between wedding events. Located just south of Pike Place Market and directly across from the Four Seasons Hotel, the SAM offers rotating exhibitions, a Native American art collection, and a sculpture garden nearby. Perfect for art lovers and those seeking an indoor activity on cooler or rainy days.

Seattle Art Museum

A lively, centuries-old public market overlooking Elliott Bay — Pike Place Market is a must-see for first-time visitors. Wander the stalls for fresh flowers, local seafood, artisan goods, and the famous fish-throwing counter; grab coffee at Ghost Alley Coffee (Charlotte's favorite) nearby. About a 15 minute walk from the Edgewater, it’s perfect for morning exploring or a casual bite between wedding events.

Pike Place Market

Visiting Bainbridge Island via the ferry is one of our favorite ways to spend an afternoon. A scenic 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island — the ferry terminal is an easy walk from the waterfront. Enjoy skyline views, grab a coffee on deck, and explore Bainbridge’s downtown shops, galleries, and waterfront parks once you arrive. Ferries run frequently; ideal for a relaxed half-day outing between wedding events.

The Ballard Farmer's Market is another favorite activity for us. The lively neighborhood market is held Sundays, just a short drive (15-20 min) from downtown Seattle — great for fresh produce, flowers, and local crafts. Perfect for a relaxed morning after the festivities. It is also a great excuse to visit Ballard, one of Seattle's coolest neighborhoods full of restaurants, cafes, and local shops. Take the #40 bus from downtown/Pine Street for a direct transit option. Sundays, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM.
